Story structure:
Introduction – introduce
characters, setting, hint at problem
Describe main problem
Two attempts to solve the
problem or overcome obstacles
Solution – most exciting
part, describe in slow motion
Ending – how does it resolve
Steps to completing story:
1- Finish rough draft
2- Edit work
3- Write a good copy
4- Illustrate
Goal: Pause and describe in the significant areas
(show not tell using the five senses)
Use specific descriptive
vocabulary
Attempt to use figurative
language to enhance imagery
Clear sentence structure,
spelling, capital letters and punctuation
Write in paragraphs that connect
smoothly
Balance of description and
dialogue
Ending connects back to the
beginning and is unpredictable
